April 2020 - Covid-19 School Closure - until further notice
Hi Families! I hope all is well! I know that this has been a challenging time for all of us, but please know that we will continue to get through this together! My hope is that the resources that I have on the website are helpful and can assist your child while at home. I am also available Monday - Friday by phone or email. |
Classroom News! While students are learning from home, one of the most important things to keep in mind, is making sure that your child is mentally and emotionally healthy! The district wants to ensure that our students are engaged in learning and as their teacher I want to support you in anyway that I can. For one, we have packets that are available for students to complete, the packets are available on the CMSD website and if you need assistance, I can help you in retrieving them. In addition, this week the district has partnered with Channel 6, and are broadcasting CMSDTV, where students can watch an hour of lessons, instructed by some of our best teachers! It airs at 9:00 a.m, however if you can, please tape it so that students can watch it at their convenience or more than once.
Also, this is the perfect time to work on functional skills with the children, please have children complete one or two chores correctly each day. Students are learning in so many different ways, brushing their teeth correctly, washing their hands, setting the table, cleaning up after themselves all of these are functional skills that the students can work on as well as academic skills such as name writing (first and last names) Writing their phone numbers, addresses, reading sight words such as, and am, look, the, boy, can, help, get, box, man, like, dad, mom, jump, walk. Make cards and practice or have your child write or trace words. Reading books is my absolute favorite! And now is the perfect time for the children to read their favorite books! I also have a youtube channel (Tuggle Time learning!) which will contain all of our favorite books! I am adding new videos to my playlist daily so that the students can enjoy. In the meantime, please have students look at or read books and then explain to you whats happening in the story, Another important skill all students could benefit from is talking in complete sentences. Therefore make sure that your child is providing details about what they’re reading or viewing. The children should be speaking in complete sentences as the tell you WHO, WHAT, WHEN and WHERE. At the bottom of this website are some of our favorite resources that contain many different stories. Simply click the link and enjoy! |
